The short version

SpotShare tells neighbours when an on-street parking space becomes free. To do that it needs to know when you drive off and, if you are looking, roughly where you are.

Your home location never leaves your phone. We never store your journeys. Nobody can see who shared a space.

What we collect

Account: your email address (or Google account) and a display name if you set one.

Spaces you share: the location of the space, the time, and whether it was shared by hand or detected automatically. Not your name.

Spaces you claim: which space, when, and whether you got it.

Searching: while you have "Find a space" switched on, your approximate location and search radius, so we can alert you. Deleted a day after you stop.

Your car: the name of the Bluetooth connection you chose, so the app knows it is you driving. Not the Bluetooth address.

Push token: so we can send you alerts.

Reports: if you flag a space as wrong, the space and your report.

What stays on your phone

Your home location, used to decide whether a drive off counts as freeing a space near home.

Driving detection state and a short diagnostic log.

None of this is sent to us.

What we never do

Track or store your journeys. We receive single events ("a space freed up here"), not location trails.

Show anyone who shared a space or where you live.

Sell or share your data with advertisers. There are no ads.

Use your data for anything other than running SpotShare.

How long we keep it

Shared and claimed spaces: 30 days, then deleted automatically. The space itself is only visible for about 10 minutes.

Search location: deleted a day after your search ends.

Account details: until you delete your account.

Your rights

Delete everything: Settings, then Delete my data. This removes your account and all data about you straight away.

Access, correct, or object: email us and we will respond within a month.

Complain: you can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Legal basis

We process your data on the basis of your consent, which you gave when you joined and can withdraw at any time by deleting your data.

SpotShare is for adults. You must be 18 or over to use it.
